Marty served on the National Alliance for Model State Drug Laws, a small, influential group formed by the U.S. Congress.

As BWC’s Chief Risk Officer, Marty was responsible for developing and directing risk-management strategies such as BWC’s 10-step business plan for more than 300,000 Ohio public and private employers. During his six years as Chief Risk Officer for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC), Marty was responsible for developing and directing risk-management strategies, employee services, premium audit, safety and hygiene, underwriting, self-insurance, and business retention and expansion.

Marty has a thorough knowledge of workers’ comp laws, premium rate-making processes, National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) manual classifications, underwriting and audit functions, BWC-sponsored discount programs and other cost-containment strategies. As developer of BWC’s Drug-Free Workplace Program and 10-Step Business Plan, Marty helped establish program benchmarks tied to premium discounts for participating employers.
